History

Corporate Aviators was founded by Margaret Vernet who knows first-hand the needs of the industry from her years of experience in the aviation industry. Margaret worked as a flight attendant for the former Eastern Air Lines and began her corporate flight attendant career in 1969. She performed the role of aircraft and crew scheduler for a corporate flight department. She rose to the level of Vice President of a regional commuter airline before establishing Corporate Aviators.

Her diligence in exploring the arena of aviation employment issues offers clients a perspective that few others can replicate. A strong proponent of customer protection and worker rights alike, Margaret spearheaded the industry's first group health and wellness plan for temporary workers.  Margaret is the author of several articles and has served as contributor to the National Business Aviation Associations' (NBAA) Employment Issues Working Group. In addition, as a seasoned expert in the aviation staffing industry, she is regularly sought out for interviews by trade journals, including Business & Commercial Aviation's “The Pros and Cons of Using Part-Time Crews” and Aviation International News' “Independent Flight Crew Draw More Scrutiny” as well as the globally distributed Time magazine article, “A Choice Contract”. Recently, the NBAA’s Business Insider published “Employee or Contractor? Avoid Pitfalls When Hiring Temporary Crew.

In 2011, Margaret is credited working with the NBAA to write the “Fair Labor Standards Act Resource” publication created at the request of the NBAA to address overtime provisions in the aviation industry.

In 2012, Margaret was acknowledged by NBAA as a major contributor in developing an important industry publication that addressed flight department concerns when hiring independent contractors. “Best Practices For Utilizing Independent Contractors”. Together these articles and publications have served to educate the entire corporate aviation industry on employment related compliance issues.

In 2014, the NBAA interviewed Margaret to comment on the Voluntary Classification Settlement Program (VCSP ) ” With Push for Voluntary Settlement, IRS Tightens Scrutiny of Worker Misclassification” .
